Benton County Farm Bureau, Inc. -- Scholarship Application

“In Memory of Mrs. Edna Sewell”

• The Mrs. Edna Sewell Memorial Scholarship is given to honor Edna’s many hours of service to various community activities throughout her life.  The Benton County Farm Bureau, Inc. also wishes to encourage all of our young adults to finds ways to support their local communities wherever.

• This program is a scholarship program, not a loan program.  The scholarship applicants will be evaluated on their academic performance, school and service activities, positions of leadership, letters of recommendation, etc.  We will also factor in each individual’s financial need for education.

• This program will provide at least (2) individual scholarships, each award up to $1,000.00.  If possible, we will try to award the scholarships to one male student and one female student.

• The recipient of a scholarship must be:

• a Benton county resident,
• your family or parents must be a current Farm Bureau member and also a member for the immediate previous year.

• The recipient must be accepted for admission for training beyond the high school level at a vocational school, community college or an accredited 2-year or 4-year university.

• The scholarship will be issued as a joint check to the recipient and the admitting school.

• The scholarship committee whose duty will be the selection of the scholarship winners, will be made up as follows:

• Benton County Scholarship Chairperson,
• Benton County Vice-President,
• Benton County Women’s Leader,
• And two other persons not necessarily Benton County Farm Bureau Board members, but selected by the Benton County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

**  In the event that any application is submitted by a son or daughter of a scholarship committee member, this related committee member will be replaced by another person selected by the Benton County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.

• Application must be submitted by April 16 to the high school office or Farm Bureau office.  Presentation of the scholarship winners will be made at the Benton Central Senior Awards Night.

• Application forms will also be available at the high school Guidance Counselor’s office or at the Farm Bureau Insurance office in Fowler, Indiana.  (See address stated above)
